Give An Effort and Be Loyal
Those who know how to make a relationship work are willing to do any reasonable thing to be with their partner. Relationships are similar, in many ways, to bank accounts. You must keep making deposits into your bank account if you want to be financially comfortable. If you consistently withdraw more than you deposit, then your bank account will eventually be empty. Likewise, if you take more than you give in a relationship, then your partner will soon realize that there is nothing in the relationship for them. If you want your relationship to work, then you must both be willing to give more than you take. Be careful not to get comfortable, and start taking your partner and their love for granted.
Stick To Your Principles
Your values and principles are the core of who you are; if you sacrifice them for your partner, then you do not really know how to make a relationship work, regardless of how long you have been in your relationship. Far too many people feel abused, neglected, hurt, or taken for granted, but they do not voice their discontent for fear of hurting the relationship. This causes resentment to fester and grow until they eventually cannot endure it any longer. Couples who know how to make a relationship work have the courage to voice their feelings, even the negative ones. This opens the relationship, and is usually the only thing needed to cure the problem, and make the relationship work.
Make Time For Each Other
Happily married couples who have been together for years and know how to make a relationship work understand the importance of friendship. Your partner should be more than a bed warmer. He or she should be someone with whom you can cry, laugh, and debate with. Your partner is the one you should explore new places and try new experiences with. Those who know how to make a relationship work never fail to enjoy quality time with the person they love, no matter how tight their schedule. Don’t know what to do with your spouse?
